Post subject:  For Ron and Tim (and anyone else) points connections/tie co

I double posted this so you can read the text.
The above turnouts are number 12's. The one on the cork pad is code 40 (note the point connection) these are brass bars with holes drill in them for a wire that connects to the bar (on the code 40, on code 55 the wire connects to the point rail) I did it this way to maintain flange clearance on the points (for the code 40). They pivot, and the brass bar is significantly stronger than the pc ties (the pivot and resulting stronger connection to the brass stock ought to increase the longevity manifold).

Also note with a little effort you can color match the wood ties. The hard part is getting the texture on the tie surface.
Now some will say why bother? and for mainline track I agree, a blast of grimy black to simulate soote and ballast dust is all one needs. But for secondary trackage, such as sidings, yard throats, and yards. more of a wood coloration is seen. This is because the low speeds kick up less dust and allow more wood coloration to be seen.

Let me know what you think!

Rob
PS: Do you guys at fast tracks think you could do a double sided jig? one side code 40 the other code 55?
