Newbie here. I am considering buying my first Fast Track fixture to build #8 code 70 HO single crossovers from the double crossover fixture. Later, I intend to build single #8 turnouts as well as double crossovers and would prefer to save some money and make the single turnouts from the crossover fixtrue. The biggest difference I can see from the photos (besides PC tie placement) is with the throw bar. On the crossover it can be mounted only on the straight side while on the single turnout fixture it can be mounted to either side. Are there any problems building a single turnout and mounting the throwbar out of the fixture? Are there prefered techniques to do this? Can the crossover fixture be ordered with the throw bar slot modified to allow throw bar mounting on the divergent side as well as the straight side? Thanks for your help. George |

I have made all of my single turnouts from the crossover fixture. After the first one, it's no big deal understanding which slots / grooves to use. I modified my fixture using a milling machine to allow the throwbar to be put to either side of the single turnout but I suppose it could be installed outside of the fixture as well. Might be worth asking before you buy to get fixture modified. Rick |

George, I think Ron and Tim have not updated their web site pictures for a while. The jig I purchased earlier this year has the throwbar slot cut all the way thru from side to side (see attached). The holes are my modification to allow me to install my brass spikes to connect the point to the throwbar instead of making the solid solder joint. Chuck L.
