Hi guys...well I just built my first ever point useing your jigs and tools and am very pleased with the whole system.
Now my question....I built solid points as opposed to hinged....I gapped all the copper-ties as shown on the template and followed the videos...but the point is still one big short-circuit.HELP..... I see on the template that the point rails need to be gapped up towards the frog...does that apply to the solid points also...is that my problem??? If so it seems to defeat the point of the solid points.

Cheers
Gene

The closure rails just ahead of the frog have to be gaped. The points themselves are powered to the adjoining stock rails. That's why you have to isolate the two points. Color a template carefully using tow distinct colors. If you have actual colors then touching - that's a short.

The frog becomes totally isolated and should be powered by contacts connected to the point throw.
