What is the difference between Mainline, Branchline and Siding track please?

In all scales, the difference is the spacing of the ties on the track. If you look at the Quicksticks for the curved or straight track, or oven the track it self (try looking at the combo jig) you will notice that the tie spacing get wider and wider between ties as the level of traffic decreases. This was usually a cost saver to the rail roads. Hope this helps. Kurt |
