o.k. first thing...
i'm just about fed up with my LHS and walthers...
they still haven't sent me my order of c 40 rail or the ME weathered ties....
i know...i know..
they don't have much control on it...and they are out of stock...
but it would at least be nice to tell me when i might expect it...

so, i'm now considering another souce....

and as such...
this is the problem i'm confronted with...
as i'll experiment with making my own stub switches....
(my layout will be early steam....and so it will be more prototypical...as well as being easier and cheaper...;)

i'm wondering...
the stock rails leading into the TO will, at least for some part, need to be separate from the ties...
what is a good distance...if possible from experience...would be recommended.
i was thinking that 2 inches would be good...
but if i can get away with 1 inch...
that would be great :D
i could put the switches much closer together :D
like in a yard ladder :D

i don't want to start "snipping/filing/laying" the TO's just yet....
without having a sure understanding of the reliability of the end result :?
