 Post subject: Nm3 or Z ?

I,

I plant to set up a new layout (part of a Belgian metric local line).
I was thinking using Nm3 Kits but tie allignement seems to be very "rustic".
Is it related to the photo of the kit or the reality ??? in this case I will probably use z scale kit.

Your opinion ?

An other point I dont plan to buid all the tracks from scratch. So wich flextracks can I use in code 40 to avoid compatibility problems ?

Still no answer :evil: to my studid :wink: previous question... An other one.
I see a dual gauge N/Nm3... On this base is it possible to mount
1) N scale turnout
2) Z scale turnout
3) Or only Dual gauge ? :?:

You may be the ONLY one doing 1:160 meter gage considering turnout construction with FastTracks fixtures. US N scale and Nn3 (vs. Nm3) typically uses code 55 or code 40 rails handlaid. The 'Z' gage flex track used with Nn3 has mixed adherents each using either Peco, Marklin, or MicroTrains flex track - some code 60 (variants) - some code 55 - some code 40.

Choose the 'flex' of your choice and match the rails for your turnouts (FastTracks can be ordered specific to your rail code). You can have standard gage, narrow gage, and dual gage portions each with separate fixtures - but I'd suggest you order the dual gage FastTracks fixture and use it for all three styles of turnouts - the geometry is adjusted specifically for the dual gage - but the use with single gage (either standard or narrow) will be very reliable and acceptable.

You're on the cutting edge with your chosen prototype and modeling. Take care to check the wheel flanges and profiles of the equipment you intend to model with, and verify the standards are either adjustable, modifiable, or compatible with the US styled track specifications.

Actually,

Nn3 standards are based upon Z scale, so the rail gage is 6.5mm. That equates to ~41".
A meter = 39.370". So Nn3 is actually prototypically closer to Nm, or Nn42"!
