Hi gang, I have a wiring question. Would it be ok to use selective tutnout control on my hand layed turnouts? I'm planning on using DC control and Caboose ground throws to control the turnouts. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Scott L

Scott,

Not a problem. The handlaid turnouts (when gaped properly) are 'short resistant' - works well for DCC or for DC. The Caboose ground throws provide plenty of movement to throw points. You'll have to drill a hole on the end of the point throw bar and fit the proper fitting nub of the Caboose - but all is well. The frogs will work much better if energized with wiring - use the Caboose throws with contacts.

I estimate I have about 5 pounds of coupler springs somewhere in the vicinity of my workbench.
