What code best represents main line rail in modern day railroading and witch best represents sidings

Hi timndawn,

Rail size will depend on what scale you're modeling. If it's HO then code 83 would be a typical mainline size and it could even be code 100. Branchlines and/or sidings would be code 70 or code 55. If you're an N-scaler then code 55 for mainline and code 40 for sidings. Hopefully, another forum member can provide some guidance for other scales.
