As it would probably wind up being too expensive to create a fixture, would it be a relatively simple job to re-engineer the 19 degree N scale code 55 crossing to accept HOn30 size ties? The second question is, what is the spacing between the turnouts on the HOn30 #6 turnout assembly jig? And could they be re-positioned on the jig so the would have a 2", 2.5" or 3" track spacing? It would just make things a bit easier, I think.

I realize Ron and Tim are probably very busy, but I would like some kind of feedback when ( if ) either of them have some spare time. :D

In the mean time you could use the jig as is and use N Scale PC board ties, then remove the turnout from the jig, then solder HO scale PC board ties next to them, then remove the N Scale ties.

Sounds like a pain, but might be better than a whole new jig

Hi,

The spacing between turnouts on the fixtures is just an arbitrary number, chosen by how best to fit the two turnouts in the space allowed.

On the HOn30 #6 fixture the center line spacing between the turnouts is 3.62" (90.9mm)

A crossing fixture in HOn30 might be able to be done, but the catch is fitting in the necessary gaps between the rails and the ties, it is not uncommon for it to be impossible to build certain sizes of crossings. Unfortunately it isn't always evident which sizes can't be done until much work has been invested into the design. This is why there is a limited number of crossings available in the library.

Usually if the crossing is not available, it is because it has been determined that the fixture method will not work with that particular size and scale.

Then it looks like I'll be ordering the HOn30 #6 turnout kit with 3.5" track space on the jig and the 19 degree N scale crossing with HOn30 ties if I want to go down that road. Having said that, I have a new plan in mind.

Because a #6 HO double crossover is available with 20" tie spacing, does this mean that an HOn30 double crossover with 20" tie spacing ( and 2" track centres ) would work?
