Post subject: | Building a Duel Gauge Crossing |
Building a Duel Gauge 14 Degree Crossing After a week of working with the Fast Tracks Tie and Rail templates I was able to construct an 14 degree Duel Gauge crossing with 18 Point Sets and almost double the amount of PC Board Ties as a standard gauge or a narrow Gauge crossing would need. I now see why Duel Gauge crossing fixtures haven't been offered yet by "Fast Tracks" I think they would need to construct 4 Fixtures for each different crossing. Until they do make them I think I should be able to build each one that I'll need by using The old fashion way when and where I find a use for one. But then again if "Fast Tracks" builds a few HO/HOn3 Duel Gauge fixtures or offers them I'll be in line to buy at least one of each of them. If not for the Two Duel gauge fixtures That I Bought and built a couple of each I would have never even considered trying to build a Crossing in Duel Gauge. Now for the really fun part of figuring out where & how to wire it. I did use my jewelers saw and cut many isolation sections, I believe will be correct. I can always just leave it as a completely dead un-wired section and push the engines through by hand. Hay it worked 50 years ago with my old wooden train set LOL. well back to the test bench for now and loving every minute of it. |

That sounds similar to what I would like to include in my HO/HOn30 layout at some stage. Do you have any pics? |
