I've got to say first off that the tools and jigs provided by Tim and Ron are fantastic. I've building turnouts like a madman over the last several months. Finally gearing up to actually lay down some actual track work and put all these turnouts and pieces together. First I have to sand the ties, paint them and then ballast...but that's not the point.

Here is a couple of pieces I'm proud of. They took some thought and planning but "turned out" great. Also, for someone who has never hand laid, and to do so while building his first layout, I think these are turning out fantastic. Like I said, I can't wait to start installing them and running some trains on them.

Keep making the fine products guys. I love them!

Tetters:

I know yours was an old post but I was impressed by the links showing the work in progress. Seems like you have a great handle on how to move forward with turnouts and hand-laying track on your layout.

I may have questions about how you added DCC to your locomotives (tools, kits, parts, etc.). I am some months away from starting to do so (have my DCC system in place though).

Tetters and Sambear, if you follow the suggestions on gapping the turnouts will work with DCC or DC. I like you have my DCC system (hooked to a 1x4x24 test track) but am waiting to build my layout. I live in a rent house and the garage is full of junk to loose and make room for a small layout.

Keep up the work, I like the shelf plan in you photo links.
