I just finished my first #8 HO double crossover with the FastTracks fixture. It went very well, although slow due to my inexperience. First trials with an Athern railcar, by hand power, was a little less perfect than expected. A couple of adjustments to some frog points and it flowed fairly good but sometimes the wheels would pick up on the frog points. I changed the wheelsets to metal Intermountains and the rail car flowed thru all paths flawlessly, even when going as fast as I reasonably could get it to by hand. The plastic wheelsets were being penetrated? by the sharpness of the frog points and lifting them up. I really had wanted to change out all the wheelsets anyway, now I have an excuse. I am going to continue to make adjustments until the plastic wheelsets will perform satisfactorily.
A great product for any model railroader to have, especially someone new to handlaying techniques.
