Ok, I can man up and ask for some help here. I have no trouble building the turnouts in the well made jigs. I even can build good working turnouts using the printable templates. The toughest part for me is marking and making the bend in point rails where they meet the frog, and form the guardrails, when not using the jigs.

I have many places on my layout where a # 4.57 turnout us needed, or some other non specific size. I have all the correct and useable gauges, from NMRA to all the after market types. I just have issues making the gap for the flange way small enough.

Any tips or advice is welcome. Do I bend the guard rail first, then form the point?

Thanks in advance

Thomas G.

Make and form the wing rails at the frog first . . . then form the closure rails and the points.

I estimate I have about 5 pounds of coupler springs somewhere in the vicinity of my workbench.
