Tim, As noticed in the forum ... Referencing the use of Acid core vs Rosin core? What is the deal.... All your references say not :?: to use rosin core however that is the only one I can find here in MN. Can someone enlighten me here as I do not want to botch up my first attempt of making my first turnout. John

Hi,

Either will work, we usually recommend the acid based as it is far more aggressive and works well for soldering rail to PC board ties. Care must be taken to ensure it is completely cleaned off afterward, as it will corrode. This can be easily done with a toothbrush and some running water.

Rosin based will also work, but it is not as aggressive, and you will have to ensure the ties are very clean and shiny before soldering to ensure a good bond.

Its been our experience that people new to soldering trackwork find it is easier to use an acid based product.
