I asked this question before, but I did without knowing how exactly the twist-ties would work until now. Now that this product has been released, with the users-guide and with the understanding how they work, here is how I was thinking of using the twisties and other tools to make a "jig" for a curved turnout. To create "JIG" 1) Take a piece of thin basswood, and determine the radius for the Curved Turnout per the instructions in the user-guide 2) Glue the Twist-Ties to the basswood, following the radius drawn. 3) Remove ties where PC Board Ties will be used following similar pattern in Fast Tracks Turnout Assembly Jigs. If needed, place plastic guides for proper placement and spacing for ties. 4) Drill clearance holes through basswood for spikes. To use "JIG" 1) Take piece of homasote and secure "jig" on top of piece of homasote 2) Place PC Board Ties in place 3) Spike Stock Rails to Twist-Ties per instructions of User-Guide 4) Create Points/Frog using Frog Helper and Frog/Point Form Tool and spike Points/Frog assembly to turnout jig. (Constantly checking gauge with NMRA Gauge and M.E. Track Gauge tools) 5) Solder PC Board Ties to Rails 6) Remove Spikes from "JIG" and Finished Turnout Assembly from Jig 7) Replace Homasote piece as needed So what do you all think? Will this work? What problems will I encounter doing it this way? Am I missing something? Thanks all! Ken L. |
