Has anyone used, and is there anything wrong with using, the Rail Weathering Solution from Microengineering? This rather than spray painting?

It is virtually impossible to solder to once applied. So if you have to repair a solder joint or wish to add a feeder wire, it will be much harder than just scraping off paint. Plus where I live it is MUCH more expensive than a cheap spray can.

So, I'm assuming that the weathered ME track is not used for obvious reasons. I used it on my last layout with good results, but my turnouts came to me pre-made and all I had to do was spike them down. I did use PC board, but cleaned the track where I soldered. It worked OK, but in building the turnouts, I could see it to be quite a hassle.

Pre-weathered rail is fine for hand spiking. I was advised to scrape of the weathering where the rail connectors would slide over to ensure a better electrical contact. Scrape off plenty, install the joiners and cover with weathering fluid after. I was told it may not make much difference, but do you really want to rip up track later if there is a problem?
