I've been hand-laying track now for about a year using FastTracks tools, materials and techniques. Getting better every day !
The roadbed is cork on foam.
For free track I've been using the wood ties, then pliobond them in place, then spike them down.
For turnouts I've been using the track fixtures and quicksticks. Likewise I use Pliobond and then spike them after they are in place.
This has been working fairly well, following the directions in the documentation (I use a soldering iron to quick seal the pliobond first).

I started looking at the TwistTies which look quite interesting because you can bend them to custom angles. ... and its one step closer to doing a fully custom turnout. When I read the docs for these though they mention using Cyanocrylate instead of Pliobond ...
I was wondering why ? I can get the super-glue stuff really cheap and it sets up fast. Is there a reason for or against Cyano vs Pilo ?
I just noticed that the TwistTies "Kits" include Pliobond ... (not cyano).

One thing I find is when I initially glue my free rail down, even when using multiple guages to hold it in place, by the time I spike it I often have to wiggle it over maybe up to a 1mm or so to be just right. With the Pliobond I can do this. I doubt I could with Cyano.
However maybe I wouldnt *have* to do it if I had glued it with cyano in the first place ?

Suggestions welcome !

David,

Your use of Pliobond is a better approach from my experience. Using ACC for attaching individual wood ties to the roadbed would work - but not for attachment of the rails. Track will have some expansion and contraction based mostly on changes in humidity and the final rails to ties bond will cause undue pressure and misalignment giving problems with using the ACC. A 'giving' glue (Pliobond or Barge) is important at the rails bonding. Quicksticks and Twistties are not individual ties, and using ACC for tie structures connected can also lead to problems. I'd suggest you stay with your techniques that have been working.

I estimate I have about 5 pounds of coupler springs somewhere in the vicinity of my workbench.
