I love using my Weller WP-35, with the point-tip. It works like a charm. But my soldering iron holder/base I picked up from Radio Shack, with fancy coil holder and built-in sponge holder.....just does not have enough tension to hold it. The soldering iron bends the coil and the tip touches the metal and heats it up, as it cools down the tip.

Anybody know a better brand or stronger soldering iron holder to use? Right now a handy roll of Duct tape is used as a resting spot between solders. ( got to love the endless uses of Duct tape).

Thanks for any help.

I just use a block of pine which was grooved to hold the iron. Cheap and simple.

I guess I will try and make a custom holder too. I am still looking for a good stained-glass shop, since those places deal with lots of different soldering issues.
