If you have been following the build of the Bronx Terminal on Tim's blog, you may remember that he had used the Hex Frog Juicer designed by Duncan Mcree of Tam Valley Depot. While Tim was not able to use the Frog Juicer on all of the frogs on his layout (due to the very unusual nature of the track plan), he did use it in a wye reversing section, which significantly decreased the complexity of the reversing section. Overall we were so impressed with the Frog Juicer that we approached Duncan to find out if he would be interested in letting us offer the Frog Juicer on our website.

The good new is he did agree and today we are very pleased to announce that Fast Tracks has been appointed the exclusive internet retailer for the Hex Frog Juicer. You will find the complete announcement here:

If you have ever struggled with wiring frogs on crossings or double crossovers, then you will want to check out this nifty little device! It will tame that wiring nightmare with just a single wire connected to each frog on the switch. The Frog Juicer will then automatically switch the polarity of the frog with no interruption to the engine or sound system.

While the Frog Juicer is most useful for crossings and double crossovers, it can be used on all switch types, including turnouts, wyes, 3-ways, slips, etc. Any switch that uses a frog.

You can learn more about the Hex Frog Juicer and order today from our website here.

This item can control 6 frogs but can this item also be used to control polarity of a reverse loop or wye? Also my Power cab is rated at 1.7 amps and I believe a Zephyr is also under 2 amps. Is there an adjustment or do they work with these systems?
Thank you.
Pete

Yes, no problem to use the Frog Juicer on a reverse loop or wye. In fact anywhere a frog is used, the Frog Juicer can be used. The only exception we have found is where two frogs are so close together that the wheels on one side of a single engine straddles them - which would be a highly unusual arrangement.

I talked to Duncan about the current setting, and he has found that the 2A setting has worked with everything he has tried. Including the Zephr. The actual setting on the Frog Juicer is 1.7A, but the upper limit is 2A. Additionally the current spike is extremely brief and goes unnoticed by all of the DCC systems he has tried. He believes it will be very unlikely that you will have a problem with your equipment.

With that being said, there is a way to adjust the current setting, but that would require a small change to the board that we would have to do. Duncan however believes that will not be necessary.

Being a bit of a DCC newbie I'm not sure your answer above was actually geared to the question that was asked. While the Frog Juicer would presumably take care of the polarity of the frog, I read the original question as whether it could be used to control the polarity of a reverse loop as a whole, i.e. act like an auto-reverser (e.g. DCC Specialties PSX-AR series auto reversers). If it isn't intended to handle full auto-reverse, would you still want to use it in conjuction with an auto reverser? :?
