well heres my guess....

Looks as if its a combination of a couple tools that can align ties, help in the aid of installing switch machines/switch stands, also perhaps aid in the placement of tie plates for those who use them, and aid in the installation of scale throwbars.

My best guess is the car float to tug boat connection and swival to get the float in and out of dock.

Gentlemen... the answer is obvious. It's a do-it-yourself-time-machine. Now... where's my hundred bucks?

I can categorically say that it is not a time machine. The time machine is our next project. We know that because we came back in time after inventing the time machine and told ourselves that this is the thing we would come up with next. And of course we saw the time machine that we used to come back in time with, so we know for sure that the time machine will be our next project...

Ron, if Tim had designed a time machine, I am sure it would be for giving him more time to work, not for traveling through. That way he would have all the time needed to get the layout ready for the next show, and all the back orders done, with TIME to spare.

Could it be jig for a tortise switch machine installation?

As you study the photo more deeply, the design becomes clear.

Its a track Smiley Happy Face tool, to make for fun & happy trackwork for your railroading. Just look in the center for the happy face smile. ( :

It's certainly a laser cut bit of the Baltic Spruce. Could be Basswood. Definitely a mix and match set up with alignment notches. Just a part of the whole offering. Must have at least something else for completion. Probably comes with a construction video.

I feel I'm getting much closer to making sense of it all.

After watching the progression of the tortise switch machines being placed on the Bronx Terminal, I'll wager that this item is the "mount anything anywhere" base for mounting switch machines!

Well since you totally wrecked my Saturday as I sat here staring at the pieces trying to figure out their purpose, and I'd planned on also guessing that you'd built the time machine which proved to be wrong, thought I'd better get something on here so I don't waste away my Sunday.

Guessing it's a series of templates that show above and below benchwork turnout mounting areas, linkage holes, and that the smaller holes are recommended wiring openings that will ensure that power goes to all correct areas after cutting gaps.


That said, I reserve the right to wake up in the middle of the night with an epiphany of what you're really created.

I think that since only two pieces actually fit , this arrangement is simply a cleverly and deviously arranged grouping of unrelated off cuts !

Could this be a circuit board of some kind.

Since this new product shall be money saving, it is a sheep way of throwing turnout's. It's some kind of flexibel manuel switch throwing mecanism.
